The Calmona silicone obstetric pessary is a solution for holding the cervix. The pessary is made of soft and flexible silicone, which makes it easy to bend, which allows for comfortable and painless application and use without the risk of pressure sores and pressure. Additionally, the ribbon is placed in the corners and can be easily pulled out.

The Calmona obstetric pessary is equipped with holes that allow for proper drainage of secretions, maintaining hygiene and minimizing the risk of infection.

The mechanism of action of the obstetric pessary is to support the cervix and move it towards the sacrum. At the same time, the cervix is not closed. This makes it an ideal tool in the following cases:

• supporting the cervix in pregnant women - preventing premature birth
• during intense physical exercise
• with increased intrauterine pressure
• in cervical insufficiency.

How to use?

• The Calmona obstetric pessary is inserted by an obstetrician. The pessary is inserted when the patient is in a lying position. It is important that the curvature of the pessary points upwards. The larger circumference of the pessary should be supported by the pelvic floor. It is recommended that the pessary be placed at the top of the vagina. The cervix will then be positioned inside the distal part of the pessary.
• The obstetrician has the opportunity to check the degree of cervical compression through the distal part of the pessary. Once the pessary has been inserted, the patient should stand up and verify whether the pessary is inserted correctly. By taking a few steps, the woman will feel whether the painful symptoms have disappeared.
• Inserting the pessary will be facilitated by applying a moisturizing gel. The moisturizing preparation speeds up the insertion of the pessary and improves the patient's comfort. Preparations with antibacterial properties that do not affect the natural bacterial flora in the vagina are recommended.
• In asymptomatic patients, a pessary may be placed until the end of pregnancy or until the 37th week of pregnancy when the aim is to prevent premature birth.
• The pessary can be removed to wash the product. However, any manipulation of the pessary should be limited to the necessary minimum.
• The inserted pessary is neither an obstacle nor a contraindication to performing ultrasound examinations.
