Fungiform pessary CALMONA
The Calmona silicone fungiform pessary is a cup-shaped pessary on a fungiform stem, the purpose of which is to retain it deep in the vagina. The fungiform pessary is used to correct vaginal and uterine prolapse and is recommended when other types of pessaries are ineffective. This pessary model works best for stage 3 or 4 organ prolapse (complete uterine prolapse).
The Calmona pessary is made of flexible and biologically neutral silicone, making its use comfortable and safe.
The first insertion of a fungiform pessary should take place in a doctor's office. The biggest challenge in the case of a fungiform pessary is selecting the appropriate size (cap diameter). Before inserting the pessary, it is recommended to lubricate the pessary with estrogen cream to improve blood supply and faster tissue reconstruction. The patient should go to the office 3 or 4 weeks after insertion to check the position of the pessary. The pessary should not put much pressure on the organs. After the mentioned time, a natural process will be to change the size to a smaller one due to the strengthening of the pelvic floor muscles.
The patient should be taught how to remove and insert the fungiform pessary while on the gynecological chair. If you experience any difficulties in removing the pessary, please consult your doctor.
